Terrorists shoot down Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777, a passenger aircraft, killing 280 passengers and 15 crew members, according to preliminary estimates. The airliner flew within the international corridor for flights not far from the corridor the Ukrainian military cargo aviation used to deliver supplies to the Ukrainian military near the Russian border. The terrorists shot the aircraft down with the BUK, a launcher for self-propelled surface-to-air missiles, Anton Herashchenko, Advisor to the Interior Minister of Ukraine reported. Igor Strelkov, the leader of separatists, posted a photo and a message on his Vkontakte page shortly after the airplane was shot down confirming the fact but confusing the airliner with what he states to be a Ukrainian aircraft. “We warned you: don’t fly in “our skies”,” Strelkov wrote along with the photo of the crashed airliner. “Yet another birdy down,” was his cynical description of the act.

“Donets People’s Republic” terrorists do not let rescuers and law enforcers on the Boeing 777 cash scene, Donetsk Governor Serhiy Taruta states as reported by the Donetsk Oblast State Administration press service.  

Groups of the military wearing Russian camouflage with no insignia emerge among terrorists, says Andriy Lysenko, Speaker for the National Security and Defense Council info center. The groups are armed with artillery weapons and GRAD multiple missile launchers. The Ukrainian military capture a Russian conscript, Dmytro Tymchuk, coordinator of the Information Resistance group, writes on his Facebook page.

The first ones to arrive to the Boeing 777 crash scene are groups of the “Donetsk People’s Republic” militants. The terrorists are trying to hid tracks: they intend to transfer the Black Boxes from the aircraft to Russia. However, Ukraine has serious evidence that it was the militants who shot down the Malaysian airliner, Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) Chief Valentyn Nalyvaichenko says at the Cabinet of Ministers briefing.  

Russian President Vladimir Putin claims Ukraine responsible for the airplane crash as the country on whose territory the terrorist act occurred.

The Cabinet of Minister sets up a Government Commission to Investigate the Boeing 777 Catastrophe for the Malaysia Airlines airplane in Donetsk Oblast, Vice Premier for Regional Development and Construction Volodymyr Hroysman reports. President Petro Poroshenko invites ICAO, UN and other international experts to get involved in investigation the tragedy.

Russian Premier Dmitri Medvedev says that new international sanctions against Russia “are not going to help Ukraine. Not at all”.

Over the past 24 hours, Russian aircrafts violated Ukrainian airspace 5 times. Russian combat aviation continues active patrolling and reconnaissance of the airspace along the Russian-Ukrainian border, the Ukrainian Border Service reports.

Ukrainian Su-25 jet was shot down in the area of Snizhne, a town in Donetsk Oblast, yesterday. The jet was fulfilling reconnaissance of artillery positions of Russian mercenaries shelling Ukrainian military. Russian jet Su-27 that took off in Rostov invaded Ukraine’s airspace and shot down the Ukrainian jet with the air-to-air missile.  

Terrorists once again shelled Luhansk Airport with GRAD missile launchers. The airport is under control of Ukrainian military. The shelling came from Luhansk residential districts. Ukrainian military did not fire back to prevent killing civilians.

Terrorists try to discredit Ukrainian military. They shell residential districts of Luhansk and blame it on Ukrainian military. Immediately after the shelling ends, Russian television crews arrive on the scene. This confirms their active interaction and close coordination with the militants.

8 people injured in shelling of residential districts in Luhansk over the past 24 hours, two dozen buildings partly destroyed, thousands of residents left with no access to electricity, water supply or gas. This information comes from the Luhansk City Council. No casualties of civilians reported.
The shelling by terrorists damaged 22 residential buildings, caused fires in various districts of the city. Firefighters extinguished the fire. Parts of Kamennyi Brid, Lenin and Oktiabr Districts have blackouts leaving 5,956 residents with no electricity. 7,000 people in Kamenny Brid district are left with no running water, over 3,000 are left with no gas. Utility and emergency services are working overtime to restore the infrastructure and communications.   

Terrorists in the Donbas are destroying fields of wheat, kindergartens and houses, Andriy Lysenko from the National Security and Defence Council information center reports.

The roundtable For Unity, Agreement and Development takes place in Donetsk with the residents of Donetsk, representatives of the Donetsk People’s Republic and Donetsk City Council involved. The participants offered the militants to leave the city while the leader of terrorists, Pavel Gubarev, replied that they have “nowhere to retreat”.

Donetsk Oblast Treasury does not work. This causes delays in payments of wages, pensions and benefits, says Kostiantyn Savinov, Deputy Head of the Donetsk City Council. He also said that the city authorities are even unable to check whether the money has come on the accounts.

5% of the police remain in Donetsk. The city council asks the residents to self-organize to patrol the city districts.


Terrorists continue to kidnap foreign citizens in Luhansk. The militants of terrorist Valeriy Bolotov kidnapped four Africans residing in Luhansk.

Armed people kidnapped Oleksandr Skuratov, director of the Shchastia Energy Company utility service.

Immediately after the roundtable For Unity, Agreement and Development with representatives of Donetsk residents, the “Donetsk People’s Republic” and the Donetsk City Council, two participants were kidnapped.


 An injured Ukrainian border guard from the group detained by the Russian FSB earlier dies at the hospital in Rostov Oblast on the Russia-Ukraine border. The local Health Ministry department says that the border guard died of grave injuries despite medical assistance provided to him.  

Russian FSB detained 15 Ukrainian border guards on the Ukraine-Russia border yesterday. They were pushed to the Russian territory by the GRAD shelling from terrorists. The group includes 5 injured servicemen. The hospital they were delivered to was surrounded by the police and dozens of Russian journalists. The anti-terrorist operation commanders contacted the Russian border service to negotiate the transfer of the border guards to Ukraine. The Russian border service recommended the Ukrainian peers to contact the “Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Armed Forces”, journalist Vsevolod Filimonenko reports.  

Armed and camouflaged people rob the Epicenter construction hypermarket in Luhansk.  “Luhansk People’s Republic” militants took several electricity generators, tents, spades and hiking equipment. Supporters of the self-proclaimed “Donetsk People’s Republic” looted the Donetsk METRO hypermarket.

The militants of the self-proclaimed “Donetsk People’s Republic” stole equipment and weapons from the police station in Torez, a town in Donetsk Oblast. They stole all ammunition, handcuffs and limb protectors, and the computer. They also took down two State Flags of Ukraine and set them on fire publicly in front of the central entrance to the police station.

 Carjacking by the militants of the self-proclaimed “Donetsk People’s Republic” continues. 8 facts of illegal withdrawal of vehicles were registered in Donets over the past 24 hours, 14 cars, including one KamAZ truck, were stolen, the Interior Ministry Headquarters press service in Donetsk Oblast reports.

Unknown men stole 172 cows from the farm in Luhansk Oblast and ran them to the Russian territory, reports Tetiana Pohukai, head of the Interior Ministry PR Department in Luhanks Oblast on his Facebook page.


The total number of Ukrainian citizens who moved to other regions of Ukraine from the area of the anti-terrorist operation is 46,546, including 16,993 children and 5,545 invalids and elderly people, reports Serhiy Bochovskyi, head of the State Emergency Service.  
22 orphan children who refused to accept Russian citizenship were deported from the occupied Crimea, MP Iryna Herashchenko, the President’s Envoy for Peaceful Regulation of the Conflict in Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts, reports.
